Earthmoving plant & equipment is heavy equipment, typically heavy-duty vehicles designed for construction operations which involve earthworks and load shifting. They are used to move large amounts of earth, to dig foundations and in some circumstances to lift and move freely suspended loads. Earthmoving equipment may also be referred to as load shifting machinery, civils machinery, mobile plant and more.
On the bases of operation, load shifting equipment is usually categorized as:
- Excavators (compact excavator, dredging, dragline excavator, front shovel, and others).
- Loaders (skip loader, front end wheel loader, skid steer loader).
- Construction tractors (grader, scraper, track loader, material handler).
