About This Course
This course specifies the outcomes required to safely operate an elevating work platform. This course includes training and assessment on the conduct of operating an elevating work platform and includes planning for work tasks using the EWP, operating the elevating work platform, following safety procedures, and manufacturer specifications directly relevant to the operation of EWPs.
The work required in this unit relates to the National Standard for High Risk Work but this unit does not provide the licence. Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements that may apply to this unit can vary between states, territories and industry sectors, and must be sourced prior to applying this unit.
This unit alone does not provide sufficient skill to independently load and unload equipment. To perform this activity safely, personnel must either complete or be assisted by someone who has completed RIIHAN308F Load and Unload Plant or equivalent.

Course Outcome
On successful completion of the course, students will be issued with a nationally recognized statement of attainment (SOA) and a plastic photo wallet card.
Duration and amout of training
Total duration for this course is 8 hours (1 day) as follows for both skilled and non-skilled operators.
The course duration is 8 hours (including 6 hours of training):
- 4 hours of supervised theory instruction
- 2 hours of supervised practical instruction (simulated workplace)
- 1 hour theory assessment (written test)
- 1 hour practical assessment

Entry Requirements
All learners enrolling in this course must demonstrate a sound level of language literacy and numeracy, Learners that do not achieve a sound result may still be enrolled into the course. These learners will be provided with additional support to be negotiated with their training and detailed in their enrolment form.
All learners must provide the following two upon attending the training.
- 100 points of identification upon enrolment
- Unique Student Identifier (USI) If this is not available please contact us
Safety Requirements
As a minimum, students participating are required to wear appropriate PPE, including;
- Steel Cap boots
- High Vis Shirt (no singlets will be permitted)
- Hard Hat
- Safety Glasses
Any other company/site-specific guidelines must be followed in accordance with CGA minimum standards.

Pathways
Where the packaging rules allow, learners may be able to use the Statement of Attainment issued upon completion of this course as credit toward a full qualification from the Construction, Plumbing, and Services Training Package.
Learners may go on to complete the TLILIC0005 Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 meters or more).
